BIOGRAPHY
Consuelo Keller was born and grew up in Lugano, in southern Switzerland. After completing the Matura with a focus on classical languages (Latin and Ancient Greek) she moved to Basel, where she graduated with an MA in Classical Archaeology from the University of Basel in 2004. She contributed to the field by participating in excavations in Switzerland, Italy and Jordan, and by working for universities, museums and cultural institutions.
Engaging with the visual and material culture of the past, and with different methods of documentation, gradually drew her to new media technologies, design and art. To deepen her knowledge in these fields, she completed an MAS in Digital Design at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in 2008, an MAS in Interaction Design at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland in 2012, and a CAS in Additive Manufacturing at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences School of Engineering in 2020.
Since 2013, when she founded her label [ digimorphé ], she investigates the possibilities and aesthetics of creative coding, algorithmic and parametric design, combining advanced digital manufacturing processes with traditional techniques and handwork to create contemporary jewelry and objects. Under her own name she offers unique pieces and limited editions. She has exhibited her work and held lectures and workshops in a range of settings and institutions, mainly in Switzerland, Italy and Germany.
Research and experimentation are important driving forces of her work. She is interested in what happens when intangible sequences of zeros and ones become matter and meet the intricacies and textures of physical reality. Geometry, structure, systems and variations are key elements of her practice. The background is provided by her diverse education spanning the humanities, design and technical disciplines, material and digital culture. She works with different technologies, machines and materials, exploring the potential of digital design and fabrication merged with craftsmanship.
A Swiss and Italian national, she currently lives and works between Zurich and Milan.
